The story

From a father's joke to an INPI patent

It all starts in Normandy, with a joke from Mathieu's father. Mathieu, passionate about additive manufacturing, turns it into a challenge: "I'm going to actually invent it."

Over a year in his living room

January 2026: after more than a year of prototypes, the first success. The patented mechanism produces a perfectly even cone in a few seconds — where doing it by hand takes years of practice to master. The internal mechanics remain confidential until the patent's international extension (PCT procedure).

"I made myself think like an industrialist, from my own living room — so that by the time demand outgrows what I can make by hand, the product is already ready."

10 testers, 2 months, a transformed product

Mathieu hands his Roller to 10 testers for close to two months, in real-world conditions, with weekly feedback. The built-in Pusher, the Support Clamp, the reinforced durability: the Premium version owes them a great deal.

Accessible to everyone

Among them, people with reduced dexterity — including one using it with a single hand. All of them rolled independently. Few similar inventions allow that.

Made in Troyes — Made in France

Production takes place in the Troyes workshop, on Mathieu's own machines. No overseas manufacturing, no dropshipping. His father joins the workshop for the launch of the first 1,000 units. The international patent (PCT), final INPI compliance, and the purchase of machines will be funded by this first direct-to-consumer (D2C) campaign.

Why this story deserves to be told

  1. An independent French inventor who thinks "like an industrialist, from his own living room" — rare in the age of mass dropshipping.
  2. An INPI patent filed by an independent entrepreneur — an uncommon and structuring approach.
  3. A product accessible to everyone, including people with reduced dexterity.
  4. 100% French-made in Troyes, with a father-son family story.
  5. A deliberate direct-to-consumer approach (D2C) to stay in control of the project.
